- The inagural Indy Racing event was won by Buddy Lazier on Aug. 27, 2000. Scott Goodyear won the MBNA Pole.
- Sarah Fisher, then 19, recorded the best finish by a female in Indy Racing history, third, at the inaugural Indy Racing event at Kentucky Speedway.
